The Constantine Village Council has set a public hearing for its April 19th meeting to receive citizen input about proposed improvements to the community’s water system and use of a low-interest loan from Michigan’s Drinking Water Revolving Fund (DWRF) to help pay for the project.
Action to set the public hearing and to consider whether to proceed with the DWRF application came during the council meeting Monday evening (March 15th).
Fleis & Vandenbrink Engineering, Inc. is preparing the DWRF application in the wake of action by the council in February 2009 to allocate up to $18,000 for a “preliminary engineering report” for water system improvements including a rate study.
“Water System Priority Projects” under consideration include a new well, filter expansion, new storage tank, new river crossing, and tank maintenance. The total estimated cost of the various projects is $1.5 million.
