Brenda McGowan wields the ceremonial scissors during a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the addition of her enterprise, Family Education and Development Services, LLC, to downtown Three Rivers. Another business enterprise has been added to downtown Three Rivers.
Family Education and Development Services, LLC, operated by Brenda McGowan, is now located at 2 North Main Street.
A December 10th ribbon-cutting ceremony, conducted by the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce and its Ambassador Committee, and a subsequent open house celebrated the arrival of McGowan’s enterprise.
McGowan said Family Education and Development Services is a consulting firm that offers family life education programs for the family and also offers professional development/wellness programs for employers. She said, “We feel that – and we know that – healthy families make healthy communities and that’s why our mission is to create a nurturing community one family at a time.” Brenda_McGowan_audio clip :28)
And just what is ‘nurturing’? McGowan said, “Nurturing is the ability to care for and foster growth in yourself and others.”
McGowan’s location also serves as headquarters for the Nurturing Communities Initiative (NCI), a program of the City of Three Rivers in collaboration with county and state agencies. Nurturing Communities is funded by a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) through the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice.
