The Three Rivers Lions Club completed its Christmas Food Box project with distribution activity that took place on Saturday, December 19th, at the Lions Community Service Center on Sixth Avenue.
Doug Gross, chairman of the project, prepared the following “thank you” message to express appreciation to those who supported the effort in a variety of ways:
Now that the 2009 Christmas Food Box project is completed, the Three Rivers Lions Club would like to express its gratitude to all individuals, organizations, and businesses, without whose assistance this project would not be possible. The Three Rivers Lions Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to the following:
• The individuals, organizations, and businesses that purchased ads in our Christmas Newspaper
making the project financially feasible.
• The Three Rivers Commercial News for printing the Newspaper and including it as a supplement in their daily publication.
• Tim Tole, International Paper, for providing the boxes used in the food collection.
• Dave Casterline, Armstrong Corporation, for providing the boxes used in the food delivery.
• The Three Rivers Public Schools for food collection and delivery.
• Kyle Foster, National Wild Turkey Federation, for supplying and delivering turkeys for distribution.
• Save-a-Lot Grocery for handling our large turkey purchase together with its on-site delivery.
• Jan Reed, St. Joseph County Department of Human Services, for selecting and providing the 250 recipients with letters allowing them to pick up food boxes and turkeys at the Lions Service Center.
• Members of Three Rivers High School organization entitled “Wildcats for a Better World.” This recently formed organization is made up of students willing to provide help and assistance to entities within the Three Rivers community. The Three Rivers Lions Club expresses its thanks to: Andrew Adams, Raven Bowen, Jessie Hanstine, Joey Hubbard, Abby Jones, Hillary Karbowski, Morgan Lewandowski, Kasie Pleiness, Taylor Richmond, and Nicole Wilson who aided in the food sorting and delivery process.
