The Carnegie Center for the Arts has announced Beryl Loomis as the winner of the Viewer’s Choice Award from the exhibit by the River Country Quilters.

The quilt by Loomis, titled “Galaxy,” is 92 inches by 88 inches in a contemporary pattern featuring suns and moons.  It was machine quilted by the artist.  According to Carnegie Center Executive Director Donna Grubbs, many visitors were disappointed that this particular example of fiber art was not for sale.

The River Country Quilters shared their talents at the Carnegie in 2007, but this is the first time for such an award.

The Carnegie Center thanks its sponsors – UniQ Jewelry, Paisano’s Restaurant and the Riviera Theatre – for the gift certificates that created the winning prize for the artist.
