The Village of Constantine has a new, five-year parks and recreation plan for 2010 through 2014.
In a unanimous action Monday evening (December 7th), the Constantine Village Council approved a resolution “to adopt the plan as a document to assist in meeting the parks and recreation needs of the community.”
The plan replaces another five-year plan that is due to expire December 20th.
Village President Pat Weiss said, “I’d like to commend the board that worked on this.” Administrative Assistant Diana Lammott was also praised for her work in pulling the document together.
Village Manager Mark Honeysett said the nine members of the Constantine Parks and Recreation Board spent about six months developing the plan and “really worked together well.”
According to Honeysett, the plan gives the board “a blueprint for what they want to do next, not just for the parks, but for all the recreation activities in the village and surrounding community.”
The plan is also critical for securing funding. Honeysett said, “We’re not eligible for any Michigan Natural Resource Trust Funds or DNR park grants unless we have a five-year parks and recreation plan in place.”
