It appears that Judy Gilchrist has won the First District seat on the Three Rivers City Commission by the slimmest of margins – just one vote – over George Ramsey.
Unofficial results from Tuesday’s (November 3rd) balloting show Gilchrist, a former city commissioner, with 207 votes compared to 206 for Ramsey.
Both candidates say they expected a close election, but Gilchrist said, “I was really blown away when it was one-vote difference. That was very surprising to me.” Judy_Gilchrist_clip – :17
Ramsey, in his first run for political office, was disappointed by the outcome, but said, “I think I did good, even though I lost.” George_Ramsey_clip – :23
In view of the closeness of the election, Ramsey said he is going to seek a recount. He said, “It would be a disservice to my supporters if I didn’t call for a recount.”
In the other contested race, Wendy Shank defeated Jim Everett for the At-Large Commissioner seat – 247 to 153.
Mayor Allen Balog and Third District Commissioner Earl Stark were unopposed in their bids for re-election.
