Voters in two “River Country” school districts soundly rejected tax-related proposals in Tuesday’s (November 3rd) general election balloting.
In the Colon school district, more than 57 percent of the voters said “no” to a $23.1 million bonding proposal for a variety of school improvements. The total was 670 “no” votes compared to 498 “yes.”
In the Constantine school district, voters turned down a “Headlee override” proposal that would have allowed the district to levy a full 18 mills for operational purposes. Nearly 61 percent of those who took part in the election cast “no” votes. The tally was 445 “no” and 286 “yes.”
