The City of Three Rivers is now in the “social networking” arena with its own Facebook page.

Mayor Allen Balog and City Manager Joe Bippus reported the advent of the city’s participation in Facebook during the Three Rivers City Commission meeting Monday evening (November 2nd) and in a post-meeting interview with the River Country Journal.

Bippus said, “Facebook is a great way for us to communicate to residents and even former residents.  What we’re finding is people from all over the country that are from Three Rivers , moved away, are still interested in the community, still want to know what’s around, and those who live here – we will be able to give them current, up-to-date information of what’s happening in our community, things that we think they need to be aware of, so it’s just another avenue for us to communicate.”

Balog  is “very happy” with the Facebook page and said, “I see it as a tool that we can market our city and show the positive things of Three Rivers.  I’ve been very pleased with the last two weeks where it’s being updated daily and pictures posted on there and we’ve got some very positive feedback.  In just two weeks time, we have hit 200 members and I’m sure that’s going to grow substantially from there.”

Balog does ask that members who utilize the opportunity to make comments on the page in a positive form.  “Let’s use this as a positive tool to promote our city.
