As we prepare to set our clocks back one hour on November 1st, the Three Rivers Fire Department (TRFD) encourages everyone to replace the batteries in smoke detectors and carbon-monoxide detectors. If you do not have smoke detectors or carbon-monoxide detectors installed in your home, get them installed as soon as possible.

According the United States Fire Administration, sixty-five percent of reported home fire deaths in 2000-2004 resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.

The TRFD also emphasizes the need for Carbon-monoxide (CO) detectors. Since CO gas is colorless and odorless, you can be awake and not know there is a problem.

Need help or additional guidance with life safety issues in your home? Please contact the TRFD at (269) 278-3755.
