Tuesday, November 3rd, will be an election day in several “River Country” communities.
In Three Rivers, voters will elect a mayor and three members of the Three Rivers City Commission.
Sturgis voters will fill five seats on the Sturgis City Commission and decide the fate of a proposal to transfer ownership of Sturgis Hospital from the City of Sturgis to Sturgis Hospital, Inc., a newly-formed, locally-controlled not-for-profit Michigan corporation.
In the Colon school district, voters will be asked to approve a $23.1 million bonding proposal for the purpose of “erecting, furnishing and equipping additions to and remodeling, refurnishing and re-equipping the middle/high school to accommodate a pre K-12 program; acquiring and installing educational technology improvements and developing and improving playgrounds and the site.”
Constantine school district voters will consider a proposal to enable the school district to levy the statutory rate of 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance.
Also, Cass County voters will be asked to approve a fifth-of-a-mill tax levy to fund Enhanced-911 emergency telephone service.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To assist voters in learning about the candidates and proposals involved in Tuesday’s election, the River Country Journal has assembled links to a variety of resources that will provide further information. I encourage you to make use of them and, if you’re a resident of one of the governmental jurisdictions with election activity, to exercise your right to vote in Tuesday’s balloting.
